I’ve helped hundreds of women with makeup looks and professional brow shaping for just about every occasion—weddings, photo shoots, corporate collateral, and more. But when Pixability, a leading Boston-based YouTube video marketing software company, asked to work with me in my Newbury Street studio to create on-camera looks for ten videos in preparation for a major New York event with Women’s Wear Daily and the release of their new study on beauty, I was delighted.
Pixability is a big data software company based in Boston’s historic North End. The company helps some of the world’s top brands succeed on YouTube with YouTube strategy, marketing, and advertising guidance. Pixability recently published “Beauty on YouTube: How YouTube is Radically Transforming the Beauty Industry and What That Means For Brands,” a comprehensive data-based study focused on YouTube’s extensive beauty community.
I met the Pixability production team at my studio bright and early on the day of the big shoot. Once I finished reshaping Marketing Manager Merrily McGugan’s and Head of Strategic Accounts Alicia Cadigan’s eyebrows, I applied all-natural, camera-friendly makeup to the team. Rob Ciampa, Chief Marketing Officer of Pixability declared the results “the best I’ve seen in fifteen years in the industry.” I created a luminous smoky eye look for both ladies, and ensured the entire team looked well-rested and shine-free for their on-camera appearances.
The shoot was a success. Pixability finished filming all ten videos in the studio, and even shot a short video of me discussing my passion for makeup and studio philosophy, which will soon be featured right here at katrinahess.com. You can watch one of the videos from the shoot here—all about how women are using YouTube to watch how-to makeup tutorials.
I have worked in the beauty industry for more than twenty years, and have been featured by Cosmopolitan, Allure, Elegant Wedding, and Channel 5, but the Pixability shoot was an exciting opportunity to learn even more about the industry on YouTube and the leading edge of digital beauty developments.
