Summer is officially here, and with warm weather comes more colorful looks. Sometimes my clients are a tad afraid of using bold shades of blue and green on their eyes, but matching mascara colors to your baby blues is officially in this season.
If you’re interested in trying a colored mascara look for summer, I recommend diego dalla palma’a blue green or cyan blue mascara (part of their Rainbow Mascara collection), or Yves Saint Laurent’s bold Extreme Blue shade ($30). Diego’s colors can be a little tricky to find here in Boston, so ask me about them next time you’re at my studio if you’re interested.
To create the perfect sunny-weather colored mascara look, apply a heavy coat of mascara in a shade that matches your eyes close to the base of your lashes. If you do this step right, the color should almost act as a vivid liner and you won’t need to use a separate pencil. Leave the very tips of your lashes free from color, and then layer on black mascara to just the tips to lengthen your lashes and make your eyes really pop.
You can pair bright eyes with a nude lip or a bold pink, but just ensure you use a color that doesn’t compete too much with your eyes. If green or blue mascara is too bright a look for you, try a blue or green eye pencil and a nude eyelid, and then a fresh pink for your lips. Have fun!
