Under-eye bags come naturally with age, but if you’re like me, you’re probably eager for tips and tricks to delay the inevitable and keep those unsightly bags at bay.
The Wall Street Journal published a recent article on “Quick Cures/Quack Cures for Under-Eye Bags” that I wanted to share with you all. Keep reading for a few tried-and-true remedies (plus a few fail-proof products) to combat those dark circles and puffy pouches.
Using a good SPF can help prevent discoloration under the eyes from sun damage. Sleeping with your head propped up on two pillows can also prevent fluid build up in the hollows under your eyes. I have recently discovered Athena 7 Minute Lift cream, with 12 organic Greek essential oils. Dab on this rather unusual cream directly to the under-eye area and wait seven minutes. You will experience a tightening feeling but within minutes, your under-eye area will appear firmer and tighter. Cover up the area with a very thin layer of concealer, but don’t use too much—otherwise it will start to crack over the Athena 7 Minute Lift cream.
One tip I suggest frequently to clients before weddings or important corporate engagements is chilling a cold tea bag and holding it to their under-eye area. Just make sure it’s caffeinated tea—the caffeine helps to restrict blood flow to the area to reduce swelling. Cucumber slices are also a tried and true remedy for brides, bridesmaids, and anyone getting ready for an important day or night out. And of course, concealer is always an option. Ask me about the perfect shade for your skin tone next time you’re here in the studio.
